COOLANGATTA junior surfers will come up against the world's best at Duranbah this weekend for Billabongs 10th annual Occy's Grom surf comp.

The five day event now in its 10th year will attract Australia's most promising surfing prodigies, along with the best junior surfers from around the world.

A number of local surfers will be looking forward to pitching their skills against the world's best.

"Last year I came third, so hopefully I can do one or two better," said Coolangatta local Quinn Bruce.

Bruce wasn't deterred by the rain yesterday as he headed out to catch a few last minute waves in preparation for the upcoming event.

Bruce will be using the home-break knowledge to his advantage.

"There's a good bank off the wall and about 2-3ft of surf, hopefully it stays like this," Bruce said.
