Cooly festival kicks off with a rocking start

COOLY really rocks and thousands of people were out to prove it today.

The big beach tent was pumping as rock and roll had scores of dancers strutting their stuff.

"It's a great atmosphere," said Helen Ross from Port MacQuarie.

"There's so much colour and the girls' dresses are amazing.

"I'm absolutely loving it."

The band was belting out 1950's classics, while colourful skirts whirled.

"This is my first time at Cooly Rocks On," said Nicola Cumming from New Zealand.

"I'm so impressed.

"I can't stop dancing."
