Cooly Rocks On arrives in style
COOLY Rocks On organisers have promised this year's nostalgia festival will be better organised than nostalgia festivals that have come before it.
Operations manager Bob Newman said the new festival, which replaced Wintersun when it moved to Port Macquarie, would look similar to the Wintersun festivals of years gone by, but would be better than ever.
“We will be better organised and deliver that passion back into the town and create an amazing festival,” Mr Newman explained.
The official launch for the festival was held yesterday with local traders and corporate sponsors turning out to show their support.
Destination Tweed CEO Phil Villiers joined with Mr Newman in thanking local traders for helping making the new festival a potential success.
Organisers pitched some impressive numbers confirming 970 cars would roll into the town for the 10-day event, more than double what they expected.
They also claimed to have had to decline many acts and stalls as there was simply not enough space.
Attractions to look out for include the Old Mal Championships, the exclusive live Miss Pin-Up Australia heat at Seagulls Club on June 10 and the Daily News Street Parade from 9.30am on Saturday, June 11.
Road closures around Marine Pde and Griffith St, Coolangatta, will be in effect from midnight on Friday, June 10, until midnight on Sunday, June 12.
