Cop faces court over child porn

A QUEENSLAND police officer will appear in court later this month charged with distribution of child exploitation material.

The 42-year-old male constable from the South Eastern Region, that includes the Gold Coast, was officially suspended from duty on Friday.

He will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on April 23.

A Queensland Police Force statement released on Friday said the public announcement of the criminal charges were in keeping with a "commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability."
