Council clarifies river position

FURTHER to a report in Monday's Tweed Daily News about the River development, Tweed Shire Council wishes to clarify the following:

Tweed Shire Council's director of planning and regulations did not state, or intend to infer that the Morrison Group's press release was “misleading”.

The comments were intended to provide the public with council's current understanding of Morrison's plans to move forward on its development based on previous development approvals.

It is not council's role to provide advice to the public in the interpretation of marketing information or have input to the decisions required in any real estate transaction.

Its core role is to make available any known information on existing property conditions, possible development constraints and relevant planning and building controls.
