Council rejects councillor’s spending cut bid
TWEED Shire Councillors have rejected an initiative by Cr Warren Polglase to cut spending by 0.3% across operations to save $500,000 on council's $194 million annual budget.
At last Thursday's meeting, Cr Polglase argued council needed to investigate how to generate surplus funds given rate pegging was likely to continue and federal and state government grants were likely to dry up.
The motion was voted down 3-4.
