Council seeks housing feedback

TWEED Shire Council wants community feedback on housing design regulations to determine whether current housing design reflects the Tweed's natural landscape.

Discussion papers went online today explaining changing trends and possible amendments to the Tweed shire's Development Control Plan.

Planning and regulation director Vince Connell said he was interested to see if the community wanted more or less flexibility in design control.

"Flexible regulations allow owners to create homes which meet their needs, expectations and aesthetic desires, however this should be balanced against protecting the overall amenity of the Tweed," he said.

Mr Connell said the council was looking for feedback from both design and construction industry representatives and homeowners.

The community feedback will be used to create a Development Control Plan amendment which will then be formally exhibited for community submissions in early 2012.
