Councillors set sights on Murwillumbah “spruce up”
SPRUCING up Murwillumbah's town centre was a concept thrown into the ring at last week's council meeting.
Cr Gary Bagnall said it was time to "pull it off the shelf and dust it off."
He wants the beautification of the CBD included in the future budget, saying residents are asking for the town to be spruced up.
Cr Byrne pointed out that other areas of the shire needed attention and that resources should be "spread around."
"Let's share our limited budget," she said.
"I'd like to see other villages get a chance."
Kingscliff is undergoing a "spruce up" with beautification projects in process, including changes to Marine Parade, to parkland and the instalment of gym equipment along the foreshore.
It's over 20 years since the beautification of Murwillumbah's streetscape has been addressed.
Councillors voted to defer the issue till their August meeting.
