Bail for man on child sex charges

UPDATE: A man appeared in Murwillumbah Local Court today to face charges of assaulting a child in the 1980s.

The man, 64, from Labrador on the Gold Coast, had his case adjourned to be heard at Lismore Local Court on June 7.

He was released on conditional bail.

The man was extradited from Queensland to NSW to face the charges, which were first reported to police late last year by a 34-year-old man.

It’s alleged the incident occurred in Kingsgrove, in southwest Sydney, between 1985 and 1987.

The man is charged with several offences including two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10 years of age, seven counts of indecent acts and an indecent act with a child under the age of 16.

He was arrested last Sunday and an extradition order was granted yesterday.
