Cow attacks 69-year-old farmer

A FARMER is being airlifted to hospital by the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter after he was attacked by a cow, west of Murwillumbah, this morning.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics were called to a rural property on Everinghams Rd at Pumpenbil, west of Murwillumbah, at 8.45am after reports a farmer had been injured by a cow.

A Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter spokesman said the helicopter was tasked to assist paramedics to airlift the 69-year-old farmer from the remote location.

Paramedics treated the famer at the scene for injuries sustained when the cow attacked and trampled on the man.

The farmer suffered a laceration to the back of his leg, bruising to his head and a minor hand injury, the NSW Ambulance spokesman said.

The man was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
