CQ police officer behind Morcombe case moves to new role

A POLICE officer currently stationed in Central Queensland that was mastermind behind one the state's most high-profile and protracted murder cases - the Daniel Morcombe investigation, is set to move on.

Assistant Commissioner Mike Condon is leaving the Central Region after being appointed as the A/C of the Operations Support Command in Brisbane.

Asst Commissioner Condon was involved in the case from day one, from the fateful day in December 2003 when young Daniel went missing.

He was the Brisbane-based homicide squad boss when Daniel went missing.

It was his job to oversee everything with Daniel's case. He was also responsible for the state-wide co-ordination of homicide investigations and providing resources to regions that had engaged as equal partners.
