Teen and 10yo girl hurt in crash
A TEN-year-old girl remains in critical condition in a Brisbane hospital after a two-car collision at Eungella, west of Murwillumbah, on Thursday.
A 16-year-old girl also involved in the accident is in a stable condition at the Tweed Hospital.
Both girls were travelling in a Holden Rodeo utility at the time of the accident.
The 19-year-old driver of a Toyota Corolla hatch is in the Gold Coast Hospital in a critical condition.
A man believed to be in his 40s, who was also travelling in the utility, was taken to Murwillumbah District Hospital with mild injuries but was later released.
The accident occurred when the Toyota Corolla hatch, which was travelling towards Murwillumbah, and the westbound utility collided.
Tweed Byron duty officer Inspector Darren Steel said the collision occurred on Tyalgum Road at 3.30pm.
“As a result of this, both vehicles left the roadway,” Insp Steel said.
Tyalgum Road was closed while the Ballina Crash Investigation Unit and specialist forensic police investigated.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
