Cricket legend Richie Benaud now on the lamb

AUSTRALIAN cricketing legend Richie Benaud will guest star as a "lambassador" in Sam Kekovich's popular annual Australia Day lamb advertisements this year.

It is the first time the former Test captain and commentator has appeared in a commercial advertising campaign.

As part of the celebrated campaign, launched a decade ago, Kekovich makes it clear lamb is the patriotic food choice for the national day through his satirical address to the nation.

Benaud impersonators across the nation are being urged to upload a video of themselves this year saying "top lamb chop, that", for their chance to have the legendary cricketer host a backyard barbecue.

Benaud said he was thrilled to be a part of this year's campaign.

"To me, Australia Day is the perfect excuse to get together with friends and family over a barbecue and tuck into some delicious lamb chops," he said.
