Adelaide 36ers have broken a 10-year losing streak

THE Adelaide 36ers have broken a 10-year losing streak in Townsville, downing the Crocs 90-89 in a seesawing affair on New Year's Eve.

Townsville coach Shawn Dennis was furious that his side gave up the lead late in the match.

"I'm angry. That's the only performance I've ever been angry at," Dennis said, referring in part to the fact Adelaide guard Jason Cadee was able to grab one of three consecutive 36ers offensive rebounds in the final minutes that changed the game.

In other results, the Melbourne Tigers outlasted Wollongong 91-81 after double-overtime, Tigers star Chris Goulding (pictured) finishing with 22 points.

And Cairns shocked ladder leaders Perth, coming from 13 points down at half-time to beat the Wildcats 99-90 in north Queensland. Perth big man Matt Knight was taken to hospital after suffering a head knock in the third quarter, but was later released.
