Cross-border tip-off aids arrest

A 21-YEAR-old Tweed gang member will face court after he was arrested for break-and-enters across the border.

Sergeant Bill Kaz of Coolangatta Police said the man, believed to be a member of the gang BHQ (Bilambil Headquarters), was arrested at a home in Tugun last Friday.

He was allegedly found with stolen property in his possession.

Sgt Kaz said Coolangatta Police arrested the man after Tweed Police provided information on his whereabouts and a comfit image.

He thanked his NSW counterparts for their assistance.

“It was a cross-border operation,” Sgt Kaz told the Tweed Daily News.

“It was good work by NSW Police who tipped off Queensland Police in relation to the operation.”

Sgt Kaz said the alleged offender would face Southport Magistrates Court on seven charges.

“Four charges are related to property crime and three are related to drug supply and possession,” he said.

The alleged offender has been released on bail.

Anyone with further information on break-and-enters in the Tugun or Bilinga areas should contact Coolangatta Police on (07) 5589 8444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
