Cudgen SLSC receives much needed funding
CUDGEN Headland Surf Lifesaving Club at Kingscliff can now put its final touches it its refurbishment plans after receiving Federal funding to help improve to the existing equipment storage facility.
Richmond MP Justine Elliot today announced that the Cudgen Headland Surf Lifesaving Club at Kingscliff will receive $20,000 in Federal funding to help with the refurbishment under the Stronger Communities Programme.
"The project will allow for the club to respond in an emergency with both its personnel and rescue equipment quickly and efficiently,” Mrs Elliot said.
"The current storage facility poses considerable risk to members, and their ability to respond is hampered by an inefficient use of space.
"The successful completion of this project will see the Club better able to manage its resources.”
Cudgen Headland Surf Lifesaving Club president, Adam Mills said the funding will help the club be ready for the summer season.
"The club dates back to about the 1960s and there's some old asbestos and non-compliant things that we need to remove so the money will allow us to finish that off to operate a bit better,” Mr Mills said.
Cudgen Headland Surf Lifesaving Club will match the Federal funding bringing the total value of the project to $40,000.
