Currumbin RSL bags six awards including best club in Qld

CURRUMBIN RSL snared six awards at Tuesday night's Keno and Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence including being named club of the year.

Over 1200 guests from across the State attended the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre event to see Currumbin RSL win the six awards.

They were Best Club Gold Coast, Best Licensed RSL and/or Services Club (large); Best Gaming Venue (large); Best Community Service by a Licensed Club (large); Best Club Redevelopment (under $1 million); and

Queensland Club of the Year 2014.

Clubs Queensland chief executive officer Doug Flockhart paid tribute to the club's contribution to the region.

"Currumbin RSL's commitment, support and funding to their local community is outstanding with cash donations to community groups totalling over $1 million," Mr Flockhart said.

"Their pedigree as an award winning club was further evidenced by their ANZAC Day dawn service receiving recognition as one of the largest and best in Australia."
