Currumbin vet conquers Antarctica with ‘boobsled’
ADVENTUROUS Currumbin vet Geoff Wilson is making a triumphant return to the Gold Coast today after conquering Antarctica and raising $200,000 for charity.
After spending 53 gruelling days dragging his massive "boob sled" across the frozen continent to raise money for breast cancer charity the McGrath Foundation, he was feted by celebrities and dignitaries at a reception at the Sydney Opera House on Thursday.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott even made an appearance via video to welcome him back to Australia.
But he'll be back home in his own bed tonight for the first time since his expedition began in the middle of November.
On January 5, Mr Wilson became the first Australian and just the third person in history to complete a solo and unsupported crossing of Antarctica.
He also achieved this feat faster than ever before all while trailing a pink 'boobsled' modelled on his wife's chest.
