Currumbin waits to see if it has the cleanest beach

MP Jann Stuckey and the Currumbin Community will wait in anticipation after last night's jusdging of Australia's cleanest beach award.

The southern Gold Coast beach won the award for Queensland's cleanest beach and now Currumbin public figures hope the golden sand beach can take out the national prize.

Yesterday, Mrs Stuckey was down on the beach with Tarra Martel from Keeping Queensland Clean, showing judges why the stretch of coast took out the state honor.

"Currumbin has the cleanest beach in Queensland and I think we can win the national award for sure, even after recent weather events the beach is looking pristine again," Mrs Stuckey Said.

The judging is facilitated through the Griffith Centre for Coastal Management, and while judge Averil Bones is in town, she will be given the full tour of the area, making stops at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Currumbin Eco Village, Gold Coast Surf World and more.

There are four other beaches in the running for the award, Godfrey's Beach, Huskisson Beach, Holdfast Bay and Frankston Foreshore who are all worthy competitors for Currumbin.
