Cyclist loses battle for life

A 24-YEAR-old Mermaid Waters man died in hospital on New Year’s Day after colliding with a car on December 27.

Around 4.15pm, the man was riding a bicycle on Duet Drive when he entered the T-intersection with Sunshine Boulevard and collided with a station wagon travelling on Sunshine Boulevard.

He suffered critical head and body injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast Hospital. The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing their investigations.
