Daley to replace Stuart
FORMER New South Wales representative Laurie Daley wore the famous blue in 24 State of Origin battles.
Now he is heading into the trenches again to try and end Queensland's stranglehold after being appointed coach for the next two years.
Daly beat former Blues players Brad Fittler and Trent Barrett and ex-Warriors and Parramatta coach Daniel Anderson to the job.
He replaces his former Canberra teammate Ricky Stuart after Stuart stepped down to take charge of Parramatta next season.
The Blues have lost the past seven series, the latest when they were controversially beaten 21-20 in the series decider last month.
Daley, who retired from playing in 2000, certainly knows what it takes to win an Origin series - the 13-time Blues captain played in five series wins.
The 1996 Dally M captain of the year has been coach of the NSW Country Origin team for the past two years and has also taken charge of the NRL Indigenous All Stars side.
NSWRL will hold a press conference confirming the appointment today.
