Dance with stars at Tyalgum Hall

TYALGUM Hall will be dancing with the stars next month when Dance–sport champions from across the country meet for the Tyalgum Dance Spectacular.

The event will feature performances from Australian Dancesport championship semi-finalists Rhett Salmon and Kristie Simmonds and Queensland Open Latin champions Hannah O’Donovan and Chris Cannock.

La La Luuba Dance School manager Solar Chapel said Tyalgum had a thriving ballroom dance history.

“The beautiful and historic Tyalgum Hall is not too unfamiliar to Rhett Salmon, whose father Ray was, for many years, the Latin and ballroom dance teacher there,” Mr Chapel said.

Mr Chapel believes the spectacular will attract a good crowd.

“This is a major dance event that people interested in dance will definitely not want to miss,” he said.

Mr Chapel has a special connection to ballroom dancing.

His parents are well known for their dance studio in Maroubra, Sydney, which was used for the filming of auditions and rehearsals in the 1992 Australian hit Strictly Ballroom.

The evening begins at 5pm DST on March 19 with a one-hour show followed by a two-course dinner. Contact Flutterbies Cottage Cafe in Tyalgum.
