Dancing in the streets as Cooly Rocks On revs up
COOLY Rocks On veteran Pam Russell doesn't miss a beat when it comes to the fun from this nostalgia infused event.
"It's like a scene from the movie Grease," Ms Russell said.
Flying up from Melbourne for around 10 years now, Ms Russell has a real passion and dedication for the event.
"It just keeps getting better and better."
She devotes a lot of time at Bop Jonny's Dance workshops during Cooly Rocks On, with some stellar dance moves to show.
"I love to dress up, the friendship, comradely and exercise as well as the beautiful location makes me come back every year."
Dance classes are being held daily during the festival, focusing on rock 'n roll, rockabilly and swing.
Organisers are warning die-hard dancers that scattering of talcum powder or any similar product is strictly prohibited at all Cooly Rocks On venues, with anyone caught doing this being asked to leave immediately.
Meanwhile, it's the second and main weekend for the annual festival this weekend, with plenty planned including a street parade and judging of the Miss Cooly pin-up girls.
The two main streets of Coolangatta will also be closed to traffic for one massive street party this weekend.
Six outdoor stages, music and dancing are the order of the day and when you can dance no more, fans can wander through retro markets.
