Daring to be different
THE Cooly Rocks On Festival calendar has no shortage of vintage fashion in its inaugural year, with a Rockabilly Dolls 50s fashion show scheduled for Coolangatta resort Komune.
Komune owner Tony Cannon said the event was about bringing culture back into the town and reigniting the passion of a bygone era.
“Cooly Rocks On is the southern Gold Coast's own celebration of an era that was all about daring to be different,” Mr Cannon said.
“At Komune, we are dedicated to connecting cultures and the more exotic and different the better.”
Rockabilly Dolls owner Jemma Clark said the modelling and promotions agency would provide stylish pin-up girls to model local designers.
“These girls are hot, hot, hot and they know how to put on a show,” Ms Clark said. “Rockabilly is back in a big way and this event is a celebration of an era that was just so much fun.”
Tickets are $20 and available at the door. Doors open at 6pm.
