David Pocock injury blow for Wallabies

WALLABIES coach Michael Cheika said he was weighing up his options after star backrower David Pocock was ruled out of the rest of the Test series with England with a fractured eye socket.

"It is a blow no doubt," Cheika said yesterday after scans confirmed Pocock’s injury.

"We are weighing up options to go like for like or a change up.

"We have Wycliff Palu, Benny McCalman and Sean McMahon, so we have different options for what we want in the back row."

Pocock is believed to have picked up the injury late in the second half of the game in the 39-28 defeat to England at Suncorp Stadium.

The No.8 was replaced under the blood rule by Scott Fardy.

Cheika said the Brumbies back-rower was expected to be out for six to eight weeks.

Pocock took to social media yesterday

"Thanks for all the messages," he tweeted not long after the results of the scan were revealed.

"I’ll be cheering on the Wallabies over the next two weeks."
