Dear editor: shifting time zones and an "unjust" budget

Time on our side
I WOULD like to suggest to Geoff Provest that he forgets Queensland in trying to resolve the issue of the cross border dilemma. NSW should take the initiative and draw a line on the map, maybe below Murwillumbah, where we on the coast join Qld and stay on the one time.

How much more sense does that make and it does not affect the rest of the state.

There will never be an agreement between the two states and it is about time we faced that fact.

Neither side wants to back down so let's gather the area that wants to be in sync with the Eastern side and stop changing the clocks. We would do more business here in Northern NSW with Brisbane than we do with Sydney. The states are far too big to be able to please everyone.

Provest delivers
I AM writing this letter to voice my disgust at the tripe written by Bryan Smith in last week's edition.

Is this guy so out of touch with reality that he believes Geoff Provest hasn't achieved anything for our electorate?

Oh I am a goose, my wife has just informed me that it was James Bentley who wrote that ridiculous spray.

In fact Bryan didn't take it far enough, the problem is our constitution must be changed to allow Australia to reach its full potential without the ridiculous situation of a Jaquie Lambie being in our Senate.

I think Bryan was a bit harsh on Ron Goodman. Every follower of politics in our region knows or should know that Ron is going to run against Geoff Provest at the next election, so like all politicians or would-be trough sniffers, they only tell us what they think we want to hear.

Bryan, you will not get an answer from any pro Labor person as to what they will do to reduce the debt.

Budget punishing
THIS cruel nasty budget is being poked full of holes every day and being seen for exactly what it is: unjust.

That incident in the Senate was an example of what the Liberal National party can continue to expect. Why?

Because of the rubbish they have put up that they call a budget. It punishes the people in our community who can least afford it, like our pensioners, families and low income earners.

Abbott insults
RE: Bryan Smith letter (12/7), Tony Abbott is not the victim of a non-compliant media. The truth is that nobody trusts Tony Abbott because he lied to get into office.

He promised no cuts to education, no cuts to health, no changes to pensions ... and then he broke every promise possible after the election.

PM Abbott further offended Australians in an appalling address to the Japanese Prime Minister last week. Tony Abbott said he admired the skill and the sense of honour that Japanese soldiers brought to their task during WWII.

I'm sorry but only Tony Abbott could insult so many of us by ignoring the unspeakable atrocities of starvation, murder, rape, torture, and forced labour by the Japanese Army. The poor souls imprisoned worked until it killed them, and everyone other than Abbott should remember Changi, the Thai Burma Railway and the Sandakan Death March.

Tony Abbott has again showed that he simply can't be trusted and the sooner he leaves office the better.
