Death of Melbourne mum being treated as suspicious

HOMICIDE detectives have taken over an investigation into the death of a Melbourne mother whose body was discovered in her backyard.

Concerned neighbours called police after hearing noises at the home at Reservoir late Monday.

The woman is believed to have had two grown children and was living with her elderly mother.

Police had not released further details on Tuesday night but Homicide Detective Senior Sergeant David Snare confirmed the death was being treated as suspicious.

News.com.au reported a neighbour who lives two blocks from the scene said a man had knocked on her door about 8.30pm, offered her $50 to hide his motorbike and said he was "running from the police".
