Delhi doubt for Sullivan

SWIMMING: Triple Olympic medallist Eamon Sullivan is in danger of missing this year’s Delhi Commonwealth Games because of his latest injury.

The 24-year-old sprinter underwent his fifth hip operation yesterday and said he wouldn’t be rushing his rehabilitation to be fit in time for the March trials in Sydney.

“I don’t want to push myself too far, so I am planning to swim at trials, but whether I will be fit enough or make the team will be a different story,” he said.

“But for me it is about not rushing myself or risk getting myself sick or more injuries.”

Sullivan’s fragile body has let him down since collecting three medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

His 2009 campaign was derailed by injury before illness led to him sitting out the Rome world championships.
