A TERRIFYING dog attack on a 64 year old Hampton man and his two small dogs has left his family scared to leave their own home and has relatives refusing to visit this Christmas.

Hayden Hickey became the victim of the attack when he attempted to rescue his maltese terriers Kate and Lucy from four bull arab hunting dogs who had found their way onto his Hampton property last week.

Mr Hickey was left covered in blood with bite and scratch marks and his dog Kate also injured following the attack however the incident continues to haunt him and his family.

"It has really knocked me for six," Mr Hickey said.

"I have had trouble sleeping since the attack and my wife and I no longer feel safe in our own yard.

"We have had to bring Kate and Lucy (family pets) to work because we are concerned for there safety."

It is believed the four bull arab dogs belonged to new neighbours however Mr Hickey said they have not been seen since the attack while attempts to contact Toowoomba Regional council have also created further frustration.

"The council have left us in the dark," Mr Hickey said.

"These dogs are a danger to the community and the council have done nothing about it despite my efforts to contact them.

"There is blood on the council's hands. Their lack of action has left me disillusioned and offended."

A Toowoomba Regional Council spokesman refused to comment when contacted by the Chronicle yesterday however offered to further investigate the incident.
