RSPCA to investigate sickening attack caught on video

THE RSPCA is investigating a complaint of animal cruelty in South Grafton after a shocking video of a woman kicking a dog went viral on social media.

Recorded by a neighbour a couple of houses down, the graphic footage first shows the woman yelling at the white and black dog before kicking it in the side. It can then be seen cowering while she kicks it twice more before it runs away.

The video has been shared on a number of Clarence Valley-based Facebook sites, and as of yesterday had been viewed thousands of times.

The original post alone reached close to 6500 views and was shared 83 times yesterday afternoon, as people on social media expressed outrage at the incident.

The author of the video, who did not wish to be named, said she had witnessed the dog being beaten a number of times and had confronted the woman about it before.

A number of people she knew also told her they had

issued formal complaints after the video footage was released, she said, and an RSPCA spokeswoman yesterday confirmed they were aware of the incident and were investigating after receiving a formal complaint of animal cruelty.

She said she was glad to hear the RSPCA was looking into it and hoped the woman had learnt her lesson.

"It gets your blood boiling," she said.

"The fact I had to sit there and record it and not be able to say or do anything is pretty bad.

"At least something will finally be done."
