Drink beer while you bid at pub real estate auction

THERE'S six properties and six chances to snap up something special at the Ivory Tavern tonight.

And to sweeten the deal you can also have a beer or two while you bid.

Rainbow Bay Realty is auctioning off half a dozen homes tonight at the Spring in Room auction night, starting at 6pm.

In the past three months the real estate agency has had strong success at auction, with 81% of properties auctioned resulting in a sale and 38% of those sold before going under the hammer.

Rainbow Bay owner Lenny McLennan said it was an excellent time to be selling property, citing more buyer activity, better prices and shorter time on the market.

But buyers are also on the hunt, due in part to the Reserve Bank's record low official interest rate of 2.5%.

"We've done some stats the other day and about 38% sold prior to auction compared to 10% last year," Mr McLennan said.

"There's been a bit of action on these properties and we should see some more action on the night."

Mr McLennan said a particular property at 11 Meridian Way, Tweed Heads, was proving popular and had been inspected a whopping 40 times.

He encouraged buyers to come along to the Ivory Tavern to see what all the fuss is about.

"If anyone wants to come and have a look they're definitely welcome," Mr McLennan said.

Other properties up for auction are:

  • 45 Henry Lawson Dr, Terranora
  • 88 Jacaranda Ave, Tweed Heads West
  • 54 Laura St, Banora Point
  • 107 Broadwater Esplanade, Bilambil Heights
  • 34 Kiata Pde, Tweed Heads
