Driver arrested after high-speed pursuits on highway
A MAN will face court on more than a dozen charges following a number of dangerous pursuits on the Pacific Hwy south of Yamba on Saturday.
Traffic and Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop a Ford Ka travelling north along the Pacific Hwy.
When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated, where it's alleged the Ford reached speeds of up to 160km/h.
The pursuit ceased south of Bom Bom due to safety concerns, before a second pursuit restarted just before 5.10pm in Ulmarra.
Police again ceased the chase due to safety concerns.
A short time later, officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command located the vehicle at Cowper.
The 43-year-old male driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene to a nearby property, where he was arrested and subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.
The Ford was searched and police allegedly located a number of new car tyres, believed to have been stolen.
