Driver remains in coma after Melbourne train crash

A TRAIN driver involved in a major crash which left one person dead and 13 injured in Melbourne on the weekend remains in an induced coma.

The driver was critically injured when the train collided with a truck at a level crossing at Dandenong South on Saturday.

Safety investigators spent the weekend at the scene and initial investigations suggest there were no faults with the rail network.

The section of track is expected to remain closed for at least five days.

At the time of going to press the driver was in a serious but stable condition.
