Drug supply dented following arrest

POLICE believe the arrest of two men and seizure of drugs with a street value of $200,000 at Cudgera Creek yesterday has made a major dent in the Northern Rivers drug supply.

The investigation, led by detectives from the Richmond Local Area Command Drug Unit began Operation Spice earlier this year to investigate the supply of crystal methamphetamine or "ice" and cocaine in the Northern Rivers District.

Around 11.50am on Tuesday police stopped a car on the Pacific Highway at Cudgera Creek to find 42 grams of ice, 484 grams of cocaine and more than $9000 in cash.

The driver and a passenger, a 35-year-old Caniaba man and a 28-year-old Robina man were arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where they were interviewed and charged with a number of drug related offences.

Both were refused bail and are due to appear in Tweed Heads Court later today.

Investigations by the Richmond Drug Uni are continuing and further arrests have not been ruled out.

Anyone with information on the manufacture or supply of prohibited drugs is urged to contact their local police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Information that leads to an arrest can attract a $1000 reward.
