Kingscliff couple release love song for Valentine's Day
KINGSCLIFF singing couple Casey and Michelle Barnes celebrated Valentine's Day with the release of a romantic, country-pop duet, which has raised the eyebrows of the news producers at channel Seven's Sunrise.
The duo recorded 'Valentine' with a Grammy award winning producer in Nashville last year and are now set to perform the love song to two million viewers on Sunday, February 9.
"Michelle and I have always sung together for fun and on You Tube and people have always said 'you should record a song together'.
"This is our first studio recorded song as a duo, it's a really sweet love song timed perfectly for all the valentines out there with the impending date fast approaching," Mr Barnes said.
The couple has been together for over a decade and have a five-year-old daughter who features predominantly in the music clip for the song.
They say the secret to their long lasting relationship was a strong plutonic friendship at the start.
"When we met we instantly hit it off and we became great friends and that's what we believe helped to make ours a long lasting relationship," Mr Barnes said.
"If you're best friend first, it puts you in good stead for now and in the future."
The couple recenlty moved to Kingscliff from the Gold Coast.
"It's always been our dream to move to the Tweed and we are very happy now that we have settled down in Kingscliff," Mr Barnes said.
Valentine was released on iTunes on January 31 and is the first single off Casey Barnes' forthcoming album.
Previously, Mr Barnes performed around the country, with gigs at Queensland's premier event, Caloundra Music Festival and three televised performances at Channel Seven's Perth Telethon.
