Dynamic pool designers win big

A CASUARINA-based business, owned by a local couple, has won two awards for its pool designs at a major industry competition.

Gavin and Lauren Brooks of Dynamic Pool Designs were awarded Gold and Silver in the annual SPASA Awards of Excellence, held at Sydney last weekend.

We chat to Gavin:

When did you start your business and why?

My family has been in the pool industry for almost 40 years, so I have been in around the pool industry all my life.

After relocating to the Northern Rivers from Sydney in 2011, we noticed a great opportunity in the local area.

It’s a husband and wife team – what are the benefits?

Lauren and I have always worked well together and complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

It makes life easier with a young family to be able to work wherever and whenever we need to, and we are both passionate about creating awesome backyard spaces for families just like ours.

What makes your pool designs special?

From the very start of the process we take the time to find out the needs of our customers, including the number and age of children, heating, lighting, steps, benches and surrounding landscape. Then we create the perfect design to suit their lifestyle and space.

How much does it cost to upgrade to a nice pool?

A typical family-size backyard pool with energy-saving features and quality filtration would be around $25,000 to $30,000.

What’s the latest design trend in pools that’s new and exciting?

Mineral pools. We are really into healthy lifestyle pools. The benefits of a magnesium mineral pool for your health are numerous, especially for skin allergies and muscle relaxation.

We are the authorised Magna Mineral System supplier, which is the standout performer in healthy sanitation.
