Eager coaches encourage potential
YOUTH coaching organisation Max Potential gathered its aspiring coaches at Tweed Seagulls Club on Friday to compare notes and talk about the 22 week course training course they are about to complete.
Max Potential aims to give young people in the Tweed necessary life skills and trains young adults how to pass on this invaluable information to their junior counterparts.
The organisation trains youngsters through a three tier coaching system, which sees experienced life coaches train young adults from high schools such as Lindisfarne Anglican school and Kingscliff High School.
In turn, they coach younger people interested in learning how to deal with adversary and equip them with the skills they need to live a happy and complete life.
Max Potential coaching facilitator Colin Sainsbury said the recent crop of young adults were almost finished with their course and were asked to present community projects they initiated.
Young adult and aspiring coach Penelope Meeves from Lindisfarne Anglican School said she joined the program to try and get the best out of herself and become an active member of the local community.
Executive coach Carolyn Bryant said she hoped the program would give young people the tools necessary to reach their full potential and realise their personal goals.
"Young people of today had too many choices and the project aimed to give them clear ideas to create their own identities," Ms Bryant said.
Max Potential is supported by Clubs NSW, Seagulls Club and Tweed Shire Council, and will hold a graduation evening at Seagulls Club on November 23.
