Early morning melee in Woolgoolga street under investigation

UP TO 11 persons are believed to have been involved in a drunken melee in Woolgoolga in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Around 1am officers from Coff-Clarence LAC attended an address in Sassafras Close after reports a fight had spilled out of a residence into the street.

Witnesses said one of the men involved was armed with a steel pole which he used to threaten others.

Paramedics attended and treated one man for suspected fractured ribs and another for a broken nose.

One person who was believed to have been struck on the head was transported Coffs Harbour Health Campus where he was kept overnight for treatment.

His condition is unknown

Detectives are continuing investigations into the incident.
