Eden and Ray team up for Aus live tour

QUEENSLAND singer- songwriter Dean Ray will join the talented Karise Eden on stage at Twin Towns Services Club in Tweed Heads this month.

But he’s not just a support act: the duo will combine forces for the start and end of the show, before performing their own set.

The uniquely composed tour, which began last Thursday, is a new experience for Ray, from Chinchilla.

“This is my first time doing something like this,” he said. “I’m going to be a bit nervous for the first few shows but I think it’s going to be really good.”

Ray said his single, IOU, which was released last year, would make an appearance on the tour along with some previously unheard material. He said the response to the song had been strong singe its release last July.

“Definitely a lot of people have been listening to that (single),” Ray said. “It’s nice having my own song get a reaction like that. When I start playing the intro and people get into it...I think that is kind of special.”

He said other new material would make up “a lot” of his set throughout the tour. “This is pretty well the first run for four or five songs,” Ray said.

Many of them have been a while in the making, and he expects them to continue to evolve during the tour.

“A lot of the songs are going to evolve from some small idea in a hotel room,” he said. Ray spent a few days last week rehearsing with Eden, as they will perform duets to bookend the show. He said their musical styles meshed together smoothly.

“It’s gelling quite well actually,” he said. “I come from similar musical influences so that’s kind of lucky.” Ray conceded he was “going to be tired” by the tour’s conclusion in August. “But it’s going to be awesome,” he said. “It’s a very interesting thing to be a part of.”
