Elderly men face 40 charges over alleged child sex abuse

TWO elderly men have been arrested following investigations into the systematic sexual abuse of NSW children over three decades.

The men, both aged 61, were arrested at two homes in Northern NSW on Thursday.

Together, they face almost 40 charges including aggravated sexual assault.

Detectives allege the charges relate to "numerous" complaints about the abuse of children in the Lake Macquarie area between 1971 and 2004.
