Elderly woman assaulted

AN ELDERLY woman was assaulted during the armed robbery of a Tugun convenience store on Friday afternoon.

Police say about 2.30pm a man entered the Golden Four Dr store, approached a 19 year old female attendant then lifted his jumper to reveal a gun before making demands for cash.

While the attendant co-operated and handed over money a 75 year old woman who was shopping screamed to alert others within the store.

The offender punched the woman in the face, fled the store and escaped in a yellow car on Maud St.

He is described as Caucasian, about 180cm tall, of solid build and in his 20s, and was wearing long black pants, a black jumper, black shoes, a white baseball cap and sunglasses.
