Elliot on a mission with petition at grass roots level
RICHMOND MP Justine Elliot spent Saturday at the Nimbin MardiGrass getting more signatures for her Petition to stop coal seam gas mining on the North Coast.
"Our community is united in stopping CSG mining in our area," she said.
"Thanks to the hundreds of locals who signed the petition at MardiGrass."
In its 21st year, the Nimbin MardiGrass attracts visitors from our region and from all around the world.
"Congratulations to all involved with this fantastic event," Mrs Elliot said.
She also wished the MardiGrass a happy 21st birthday.
Mrs Elliot has publicly stated her opposition to coal seam gas drilling, and resigned from her position as a parliamentary secretary so she could speak openly on the subject.
She joined with Page MP Janelle Saffin to launch the petition aimed at forcing the NSW Parliament to debate the issue.
