Elliot serves up funding for Pottsville Beach Tennis Club

POTTSVILLE Beach Tennis Club was celebrating a big win today, after receiving $15,000 in Federal funding for the upgrading of their facilities.

Richmond MP Justine Elliot announced the funding, contributed under the Stronger Communities Programme, would contribute to court upgrades.

"I congratulate Pottsville Beach Tennis Club on this important project,” Mrs Elliot said.

"The Federal funding will be combined with $10,000 from the Tweed Shire Council and $5000 from the club, bringing the total value of the project to $30,000.

"This project will see one of two clay courts upgraded at the facility.”

Mrs Elliot said the tennis club had undertaken the project for facility upgrades designed to improve safety for players.

"It is also envisaged that the prepared compacted sportsbase and resurfacing with new synthetic coloured Omnigrass will reduce time currently spent by volunteers on court maintenance,” Mrs Elliot said.

The Stronger Communities Programme delivered funding across the Richmond electorate for small capital grants supporting projects.

Mrs Elliot said the Pottsville Beach Tennis Club funding was was part of more than $2 billion she had delivered in the Richmond electorate for local roads, schools, health and community resources.
