Don't panic, emergency evacuation at GC Aiport is a drill
EMERGENCY services are on scene at the Gold Coast airport for an emergency evacuation training scenario.
Terminal 2 is being completely cleared out as part of a training scenario.
A Gold Coast Airport spokeswoman said is the training was to test the effectiveness of the Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) and would involve emergency agencies and individuals who would normally respond to a real-time emergency.
"Emergency exercises enable agencies to practice annually their response, command, coordination and control functions through a range of scenarios," the spokeswoman said.
The exercise will be treated as a real life event by all personnel.
"Gold Coast Airport wish to advise there will be no disruption to passengers or scheduled services. All activity at the airport will continue as normal," the spokeswoman said.
The training commenced at 10.30am.
