End to live animal exports

THE Animal Justice Party is calling for the live export of animals to cease once and for all.

The call follows shocking footage released by Animals Australia last week over the bludgeoning of Australian cattle exported to Vietnam.

AJP candidate for Richmond, Angela Pollard, said ending live export would be one of her highest priorities, should she be elected on July 2.

“The public care deeply about how animals are treated,” Ms Pollard said.

“If you talk to any politician they will tell you that animal welfare is the number one reason that constituents contact their local members.

“Why doesn’t this translate into action on animal cruelty in the live export trade?

“It is important that our elected representatives understand that this is an issue that won’t go away.”

The latest footage has been described as some of the worst cruelty against live exported cattle ever witnessed and comes despite repeated assurances from government that live export horrors were a thing of the past.

Ms Pollard is one of six candidates vying for the seat of Richmond in the upcoming Federal Election.
