Enjoy the sun, forecasters says thunderstorm on way
THE blue sky over the Tweed brings welcome relieve from the torrential rain of the past few day but it may not last.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a potential thunderstorm for Tweed Heads later today.
The bureau has also predicted a thunderstorm on Wednesday and showers for the rest of the week across the region.
Tweed River is still swollen from the deluge delivered on the Australia Day long weekend.
The bureau issued an update on water levels for the river this morning.
"Predictions for Barneys Point have been revised upwards," the bureau said in a statement.
"Rainfall has eased in the Tweed River catchment since last night (Monday). Tidal anomalies combined with main river flows from Murwillumbah has resulted in moderate flooding at Chinderah.
"Minor flooding is continuing along the Tweed River at Murwillumbah where the river is expected to fall below minor flood level (3m) shortly."
Water levels in the Tweed River at Uki were 4.73m and falling at 11.08am this morning.
