Erosion continues to eat into Fingal Beach sand dune

KING tides have continued to eat away at the sand dune on which the Fingal Rovers SLSC, at Fingal Beach, sits.

Overnight more metres of sand were washed away and there is now approximately less than 15m between the club and a sheer 4m drop to the beach.

The surf club has been evacuated and beach goers are concerned the entire structure may soon be in jeopardy.

Yesterday a cement shower was removed by council workers for fear it would plunge onto the beach.

Council has erected barriers at the site in an effort to protect beach goers. is awaiting further information from Tweed Shire Council about the situation.
