Everest climber's body will be brought home
THE husband of an Australian woman who died on Mount Everest after succumbing to altitude sickness near the peak has vowed not to leave Nepal without her body.
Maria Strydom's husband, Robert Gropel, is recuperating in Kathmandu.
He paid tribute to her as rescue teams carried her body down the mountain.
"She was my motivation idol, my hero. She was a very strong advo- cate for women, she was the perfect person," he told the ABC.
Friends and family are raising funds to bring the university lecturer's body home.
