Everyone has their Everest, Rees

IMAGINE losing your brother, your husband, all your money and the roof over your head.

That was the harsh reality for Kingscliff-born entrepreneur Rhiannon Rees, who has turned her life around as a business mentor, humanitarian and author.

Ms Rees will tour the Gold Coast next month promoting her new book How to Climb Mount Everest in Sandals – The Courage to Live an Ordinary Life.

“I want to teach people how to transform their problems and where to go for help,” she said.

“People need to identify their issues instead of ignoring them.

“The name of the book is a metaphor; you just have to start climbing.”

The talented businesswoman was ranked the fourth best business coach in the world for 2010, and has worked for celebrities including the Spice Girls, Grey’s Anatomy and X-Files cast members.

But her success did not come without challenges.

Ms Rees has admitted to suffering sexual abuse as a child, having little contact with her mother during her childhood, losing five pregnancies to miscarriage, losing her husband and becoming homeless.

“I thought I would never survive, but I did,” Ms Rees said.

Her book launches next month, with a date and venue to be confirmed.
