Everyone wants a taste of Kingscliff as events sell out
THE first full-blown Taste of Kingscliff and Tweed Coast food festival has been doing incredibly well, with a number of the events already sold out.
Organizer Jayne Henry said Monday's Walk the Wharf, Tuesday's cake decorating class, Thursday's Madura Tea Tour and wine and cheese tasting night had all sold out by the festival's launch on Friday.
"We've only got 13 seats left for High Tea Cruise on Wednesday, and 30 tickets for the Long Table which is on Saturday night," Ms Henry said.
Ms Henry said it was great to see such a strong response.
"I work with a great group of sponsors. I'd like to show them that what we have here on the Tweed is pretty amazing, and they're investing in that," she said.
"It's going to be a continuous ten days.
"It's going to be a pretty full-on effort."
Ms Henry was pleased the sunshine had held out for Tweed's Biggest Picnic on the weekend.
"I've been pretty lucky with weather so far," she said.
"Hopefully the sun will keep shining on us here in the Tweed for the Taste of Kingscliff and Tweed Coast for the next ten days."
At the festival's launch on Friday, Tweed mayor Barry Longland said it was crucial to celebrate the Tweed's local food.
"We've really got something to offer here," Cr Longland said.
"We've got to take our hats off to Jayne Henry and the people around her that made this happen. "There are many things that differentiate us from those to the north and south. We have beautiful beaches, lovely mountains, world heritage areas...we also have some great produce."
